چکیده

Objectives This is a protocol for Cochrane Review (prognosis). The objectives are as follows: Primary To identify which prognostic factors predict whether individuals will go on to have further unprovoked seizures and the development of epilepsy at any subsequent time point following single seizure (or cluster epileptic within 24‐hour period, or first episode status epilepticus), type. Investigation sources heterogeneity between studies We anticipate that there be studies, particularly in focused adults compared paediatric population, and combination adult populations.

Risk of seizure recurrence following a first unprovoked seizure in childhood: a prospective study.

In a prospective study, 283 children who presented with a first unprovoked seizure were followed for a mean of 30 months from the time of first seizure. Subsequent seizures were experienced by 101 children (36%). The cumulative risk of seizure recurrence for the entire study group was 26% at 12 months, 36% at 24 months, 40% at 36 months, and 42% at 48 months. The cumulative risk of recurrence i...

METHODS All consecutive patients aged 3 months-14 years who presented with their first unprovoked seizures between January 1997...

External Validation of a Prognostic Model for Seizure Recurrence Following a First Unprovoked Seizure and Implications for Driving

OBJECTIVE In the United Kingdom and other European Union countries guidelines for driving following a first unprovoked seizure require the risk of another seizure in the next year to be less than 20%. Using data from one clinical trial, we previously developed a prognostic model to inform driving guidelines. The objective of this work is to externally validate our published model and demonstrat...
